Crowned Arms and supporters, EIN DUKATEN. Fr.277, KM 457. This type was among the last Bavarian Gold on the Ducat standard. Bavaria was defeated by Prussia in the 1866 Seven Weeks' War and Maximilian's son Ludwig II brought the kingdom into the new German Empire in 1871. The decimal Mark replaced existing Bavarian coinage. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated and outstandingly rare thus. (Est. $2,000-$2,500)
