A very attractive coin for this notorious issue. The planchet and surfaces are free of usual porosity and the coin is a medium brown. Excellent surfaces show minimal evidence of circulation, and the only identifying mark is a subtle edge bump above OF. Middle die state with weakness on the center of the reverse, and traces of die rust pits before Liberty's mouth and between 'IB' of LIBERTY. A collector will have to wait a long time to find a more attractive coin to represent this date regardless of the grade.

Ex Blaise J. Dantone Collection (Lester Merkin, March 28, 1969, lot 601).

Lot # 3512 Session 2
