 1860 Brilliant Proof. This obverse is divided between somewhat matte deep gray and rose and an oval area of glass-smooth ebony. The wholly reflective reverse displays light blue-gray with a silvery central field for boldest appeal. Breen's researches revealed that only 527 Proofs left the Mint from a higher initial mintage that was largely returned for melting.
