Kalakaua I. Dime (Umi Keneta), 1883. Rv. Crown, ONE/ DIME in laurel wreath, UMI KENETA and Hawaiian national motto appear in the legend. KM 3, MR.2CS-1. Glorious full silver cartwheel and meticulous strike lift this coin to a rarefied height for sheer visual quality and appeal. Although 250,000 were struck, this denomination is elusive today in any grade, as its size made the coin very handy for various jewelry applications. Mint State examples are things of legend, and finding another coin that would equal the breath-taking quality of the present offering would be a task. Finding a better example would be close to impossible! Gem Brilliant Uncirculated. (Est. $5,000-$7,000)
