Bearded bust r. of Queen Victoria's second son, Duke of Edinburgh. Rv.2. One of 15,000 struck, of which only a handful were Proofs, making this beautiful coin a significant rarity of the imperial series. Y.149. Alfred's son ascended as Duke Carl Eduard, who abdicated in 1918 and became an ardent Nazi and Lieutenant-General in the NSKK, the National Socialist Motor Corps. Brilliant Proof.
