Flamboyantly crowned Portuguese arms flanked by denomination and rosettes. Rv. Cross of the Order of Christ, 'M's' in angles. Ornate double-leaf edge. Fr.33, KM 117. Shimmering red-gold surfaces complement a bold strike. Struck only in 1724-1727, this 53.7-gram coin is the largest regularly issued denomination of the Colonial era and will form the natural crown of any carefully assembled Brazilian or Portuguese-Brazilian collection.
