Ancient prow with standard of the Danish Asiatic Company, REGALIBUS AVSPICIIS, Under Royal Auspices above, EX AURO SINICO, From Chinese Gold below. It had its greatest commercial success in India, where the Danish enclave of Tranquebar endured well into the 19th century. Struck in Gold, this coin is Fr.258. Gold strikings are excessively rare and a Pattern such as this must be considered of still greater rarity. Rich silver lustre is joined by scattered die rust on the obverse.
