1897 Very Choice Brilliant Proof. A lovely coin that is right on the edge of grading full Gem. Both...1897 Very Choice Brilliant Proof. A lovely coin that is right on the edge of grading full Gem. Both sides show full, deep mirror brilliance. There is pleasant russet toning visible in the fields on the obverse and a bit more delicately on the back. The fields have the watery shimmer expected from choice Mint Proofs. The central devices are faintly frosted. Only 731 Proofs were struck.
