 1859 Choice Brilliant Proof, with definite claims to the Gem category. Both sides show full, deep mirror fields with lovely watery brilliance. The rims are toned in the palest of champagne hues. The central devices are lightly frosted and stand out against the fields in a cameo-like fashion. Proof flash can be seen almost everywhere including in the shield lines on the back. Only about 800 Proofs were struck.
