 1863 Gem Brilliant Proof. Another very attractive Civil war era Proof date. Only 460 Proofs were struck. This example is nicely toned on the obverse in iridescent blue and gold on the rim, lighter gold in the fields. The reverse is more uniformly pale gold in color. The fields are fully bright and show deep mirror brilliance. The central devices are pleasantly frosted. The piece has wonderful eye appeal and is sure to please its new owner.
