1787 Fugio Cent. K.8-X (R-3). Fine Rays. STATES UNITED. Choice Uncirculated. This pleasing mahogany brown example is smooth and displays no wear. There is an area of slight irregularity at the lower reverse, but this is the result of less than perfect planchet stock. The strike is ample and slightly off-center towards the right. The die is in a later state than is usually encountered. The crack that generally runs from the 'E' in BUSINESS up into the sundial continues to the opposite rim on this example, bisecting the obverse of the coin. An exceptional example of the first coinage struck under U.S. authority. PCGS MS63BN.
