 1869 Gem Brilliant Proof. A rare issue, one of only 600 struck. This example has fully Gem surfaces with bright Proof flash in the hidden recesses and a very sharp strike. Liberty's hair details are bold and clear on the obverse. On the back, the eagle's breast and leg feathers are bold and sharp. The fields are pleasingly mirrorlike. The central devices are bold and frosty. The piece is toned in a remarkable iridescent blue and pale champagne.
