1823 N.3. Restrike. Copper. Mint State-64. Glittering, gently prooflike surfaces exhibit abundant original red on the obverse, while the reverse is a richly attractive mahogany brown. Edge exhibits the usual outsized beveling, which is the result of the massive die break at the obverse rim. A solitary carbon spot is noted in the obverse field on this restrike produced by Mickley using U.S. Mint dies that had been sold as scrap.
