1855'C' About Uncirculated. Fascinating narrow bands of mint lustre halo both sides of a date Akers had never seen in Mint State and called ''very scarce'' in this coin's high grade. One of only 9,803 struck, of which a mere handful survive in collectible grade. The Dannreuther-Garrett auction reference notes a single Uncirculated example appearing at auction in a 10 year-period, the present coin's grade representing the highest condition otherwise available in the same decade.
