The unit was organized at Philadelphia on January 8, 1862 and mustered out at City Point, Virginia on January 29, 1866. It fought in the defense of Washington, D.C., Cold Harbor, Petersburg, the Bermuda Hundred, etc. Total casualties were 616 men lost.
