Maryland. 1st Volunteer Cavalry. G Company. James Fogel. Frederick Co. MD. Brass. 29.7 mm. Choice...Maryland. 1st Volunteer Cavalry. G Company. James Fogel. Frederick Co. MD. Brass. 29.7 mm. Choice Extremely Fine. Holed. Lincoln type. The unit was organized at Baltimore, Pittsburg, and Washington, D.C. during 1861-62. G Company was mustered in at Pittsburg on April 5, 1861 and out on August 8, 1865. It was very heavily engaged throughout the war. Fogel's battle list on his medal goes no further than Gettysburg.
