Whether one calls this specimen Choice AU or Mint State is academic, as it is a beautiful survivor of one of the last years of production at the Dahlonega mint. Prooflike fields boast deep canary gold tones and a light greenish cast. Devices and legends display the usual unevenness of strike seen on this issue and this weakness is easily confused with light wear. For example the Indian's headdress is extremely weak while the surrounding legends are very bold and clear.
