Unlisted in Roger Durand's Interesting Notes About Territories. Most importantly, he reports absolutely no notes known at all from the two year Territorial period. We did not know or dream of the existence of such a note until now and to our knowledge this may be the first time a note from this Territory has ever been offered at public auction sale. Not included in the superb Walter Jones Collection auctioned in September, 2001. Also, the series did not appear in the discovery group of early 1822 State of Alabama notes listed in the Criswell reference. A subtle looking rarity, this is sure to generate much enthusiasm among the State's avid collectors and Territorial specialists.
Some light soiling, but a very solid note. In the good old NASCA cataloguing days a ''Very Good,'' but a great rarity such as this can be called Fine with justification. The grade is pointless as this may be irreplaceable and only one resolute collector will get to own this historic Southern Territorial note for perhaps another generation.
