1794 Copper Company of Upper Canada Pattern. White metal. Essentially as made. Unique? 29.1 mm. 127.6 gns. Obverse type largely as adopted but date slants down to right, is differently spaced, and MUS below much wider than on the regular issue. Reverse with engine turned decoration. Bright silver gray in color with some residual reflectivity in the fields above and below the reclining river god. Well struck from a die that is clearly breaking through the bases of the letters on the left. Like the piece in the preceding lot, not from the original obverse nor the ''restrike'' obverse die, either. Another pattern in the series whose origin is unknown.
Ex Wayte Raymond Estate, perhaps from the Brand Collection and the Murdoch sale.
