India paper Proof on card by Bald, Cousland & Co. Philadelphia/ Baldwin, Bald & Cousland. New York. Red protector. Women operate a loom at the upper left, to the right is the Georgia arms. Haxby GA-5 G10a SENC. Cut close, but evenly with faint foxing. Close to Choice; $100.00. A. Athens, GA. 1850's. India paper Proof by Bald, Cousland & Co. Philadelphia/ Baldwin, Bald & Cousland. New York. Red protector. Cows and sheep at rest, at the lower right a pensive Commerce in an oval. Haxby GA-5 G14a Unlisted. Also cut a bit close, but all there and deeply impressed. Close to Choice. Both are not from the ABN Sale and are not stamped on the verso. Prior to the several Athens lots in the ABN sale, these were extremely rare. Still, a very popular title and always in demand with newer collectors of this traditionally well collected State. 2 pieces.
