Named to John Francis Bransford, 1st Howitzers, Appomatox April 9, 1865. With pinback hanger. Bransford (1846-1911) was a member of V.M.I.'s class of 1867. The Richmond Howitzers was founded in 1859 as H Company, 1st Virginia Artillery.
