Victory crowning a Zouave amidst the rubble of war/standard, TOUJOURS PRET at top, HAWKINS ZOUAVES at bottom, IX N.Y. VOLs and standard in center. Hawkins Zouaves was mustered into service on May 4, 1861 and out on May 20, 1863 at New York City. The unit's highpoint came in their bayonet charge at Roanoke on February 8, 1862.
