Aztec Club Medal. Gold and enamel. Bishop & Elliott 97 (Type I). With loop and hanger, blue, white...Aztec Club Medal. Gold and enamel. Bishop & Elliott 97 (Type I). With loop and hanger, blue, white and green silk ribbon, lacks pinback. Not marked B.B.& B. Very nice, overall About Uncirculated. The Aztec Club was founded in 1847 by officers who were in active duty in the Mexican War. It was then a modern day equivalent to the hereditary military order of officer veterans of the Revolutionary War and like the Society of the Cincinnati, membership in the Aztec Club ran to direct or collateral descendants of original members (but without the SoC's restriction of one member per original inductee's family). The first Aztec Club medals were not struck until after the Civil War.

Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
