VIRGINIA. Virginia Treasury Note. $50.00 (20). Richmond. 'Oct. 15, 1862' Keatinge & Ball. Orange protector 'L' counter at the left center. Governor James M. Mason at the left. At the right is Commerce and Navigation (used on the CSA T-17 note and 'lifted' from Danforth, Wright & Co. Criswell 7. All fully signed and issued. A premium grouping! All are cut sheets, A-D plate positions, No.253, 254, 255, 256, and 261. A wonderful find in the Ford Collection and most likely once part of the New Netherlands Coin Co. inventory. When these were obtained in the 1960's or early 1970's, the retail was less than $10.00. A 'DIX' note was pricey at $24.95 (now they top out at $500.00 or so). Some light handling on a few, but not fair to call these less than Choice Crisp Uncirculated. 20 pieces.
