State of Pennsylvania. June 1, 1780 Act. Four Dollars. No.11918. Signed by P.[hilip] Boehm and Levi Budd; countersigned on the back by Thomas Smith. Printed on thin paper, watermarked 'CONFEDE/RATION'. Standard, size, designs and imprint as used on Maryland and other State issued ''Guaranteed'' notes. Red ''Int pd 1 Year'' stamping on face. Like the New York Guaranteed bills, this is a very rare series. There were 25,000 notes of each denomination authorized. A third denomination type from this key series of notes. This is a superb quality type note and among the finest known on the series. There were amazingly two different Uncirculated notes in the 1975 Affleck-Ball Sale by New Netherlands.
This beauty has stunning paper quality and is bold, vivid, and lovely. At first glance, the look of Gem New. Choice Extremely Fine. Partial vertical bending to report, not a complete folding, lower right double corner fold, and some faint handling. Complete margins on both sides, wider on the bottom and right ends. The back is completely on the paper. Riveting eye appeal and rarity. An exceptional example for a high end collection. A key Guaranteed note and Pennsylvania Colonial.
