Treasury of Virginia. May 3, 1779 Act. Fifty Dollars or Fifteen Pounds. No.11492. Signed by James Cocke, H. Cocke and A. Craig. Printed on laid paper. Standard large wide format size, approximately 145mm by 90mm. Uniface, typeset with decorative borders and left side indent. Taller type than the prior series large format bills. Typography styles are similar to October 5, 1778 notes. Fine or so. Heavy quarter folds with top and bottom splits with short, back patches. Much handling, but still very bright on the face. Uncirculated notes on this type are generally not an option;
One Hundred Dollars or Thirty Pounds. No.20894. Signed by James Cocke, H. Randolph and J. Hopkins. Printed on laid paper. Standard large wide format size, approximately 145mm by 95mm. Uniface, typeset with decorative borders and left side indent as last. Very Fine. Strong paper body and very light folds, mostly vertical. Well margined and shortly bowed in left indent. If not for a weakened upper left corner and old back patch reinforcing it, this would be one of the nicest we have seen on the type. Pencil priced ''25-'' on back edge. Well matched pairing of these highest denominations. 2 pieces.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
