Current Money of Virginia. July 17, 1775 Ordinance.  Twenty Shillings or One Pound. No.58/5735. Signed...Current Money of Virginia. July 17, 1775 Ordinance. Twenty Shillings or One Pound. No.58/5735. Signed by Phil.[lip] Johnson and John Tazewell; countersigned on back by Robert Carter Nicholas. Printed on laid paper, nearly complete and visible 'VIRGINIA' watermark across center. Standard large format ''Ashby'' note size, approximately 170mm by 120mm. Uniface, indented bill. Arms at top over denomination, ornate indent at left signed 'Ashby sculp. London'. The second series of large format notes engraved by Ashby in London, printed there and delivered to be issued in Virginia. Choice Very Fine. Folded into sixths as often seen. Other light folds and handling. Subtle and attractive toning with some petty and pinpoint foxed points. An excellent example.
