South Carolina. 1777 (December 23, 1776 Act). Four Dollars (£6:10:0). Ship Vignette. THE ACTAEON. IRAM PRUDENTIA VINCIT. No.6836. Four signatures. Signed by Wm. Ancrum, Russell with William Gibbes and Ward [vertically to the right, opposite to each other in orientation]. Printed on thick, coarse stock. Standard size, approximately 110mm by 75mm. Standard face style using border cuts with denominations, vignette seal and motto at the lower left. Ornamental printed back, denomination and imprint Printed by P. Timothy, 1777.
There were 10,000 notes printed which also included notes with the error '1777' date. This note also has seen light circulation in our opinion. Very Fine to Extremely Fine. Creased, light right side vertical fold, and moderate handling on the perimeter and corners. Well margined and attractive. Likely, a fully issued note.
