Colony of Rhode Island. November 6, 1775. Ten Shillings. Due within Five Years. No.4870. Signed by Cole, Wanton and Dexter. Printed on slightly thicker, darker paper than last. 70mm by 105mm. Printed on both sides, standard Rhode Island style. Within three border cuts are typeset texts, Rhode Island seal at left, signatures at bottom. Ornamental pattern back from edge to edge, 'Ten/Shillings' at center. Imprint 'Printed by JOHN CARTER'. There were 5,000 notes printed.
A very attractive example of this note type. Certainly, a high end note on this issue and type. Very Fine. Horizontal fold or a borderline crease, soft enough to only inflict a short right side split. Three corner folds and a right end pinhole. Both halves are still quite crisp, only some moderate handling, and show strong embossing. Moderate surface soiling on both sides. Period penned ''13/4'' at the bottom back.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
