Pennsylvania. April 10, 1775. Five Pounds. Plate B. No.2676. Signed by Roberts, Bacon and Coats. Printed on rigid stock. Vertical format, approximately 75mm by 85mm. Face in red and black, Penn Arms at left center, top red border cut 'FIVE POUNDS'. Back is perpendicular to face, wide view of Philadelphia Workhouse surrounded by red texts, right end border cut 'FIVE POUNDS' facing outwards. Imprint upside down at top 'Printed by Hall and Sellers'. There were 1,666 notes printed with this plate letter.
A stunning example of a not so rare note. The majority left over were in high grade, issued sheets and pairs. However, this is a ''hand picked'' type note of impeccable caliber. Gem Crisp Uncirculated. Off the charts in terms of color, vibrancy, paper quality and margins. For the overly fussy, the upper right margin is ever so slightly close. This is compensated for the deep ''typewriter'' driven embossing on both sides. This will give headaches to the grading service that attempts to deny it a Gem Uncirculated 69 designation!
