Standard small format Pennsylvania size, approximately 60mm by 73mm. Uniface, typeset face with border cuts and Penn Arms at lower left side. Very Good. Trimmed in slightly and soiled. Pressed long ago; Four Pence or A Groat. Plate C. No. 15480. Signed by Lewis. Very Good Plus. Hard quarter folds and soiled. Very minor juncture splits. Dark, but intact paper;
Six Pence. Plate A. No.14100[?]. Signed by S.[tephen] Collins. Arms upper left side. Good to Very Good. Backed to green card on top edge. Some fraying and dark; Nine Pence. Plate A. No.15429. Signed by Lewis. Arms at upper right. Very Good and strong paper still. Dark as usual, but solid. Top edge strip mounted to a green card. A well matched quartet and notes not seen in Very Fine or better. 4 pieces.

The smallest format size was used on the Pence or ''exchange bills.'' The size was established as far back as 1746, but was not used with frequency until the 1764 Franklin imprint issue.
