Signed by J.[ohn] Hunt and A.[bsalom] Tatom. Printed on rigid, coarse paper watermarked 'NORTH/CAROLINA'. 106mm by 74mm. The face with elaborate border cut frame enclosing the enactment texts and denomination at the top 'SIX PENCE (Six Pence)'. Underneath, to the left, is a small vignette of thirteen stars in a square. Serial number space above and signature space at the lower right. The bottom border cut with 'COUNTERFEITERS-BEWARE'.
The back orientation is perpendicular to the face and uses an ornamental border to enclose typeset texts. At the top, the denomination and in the center the obligation. At the bottom, 'Death to Counterfeiters!' At the bottom, the imprint 'HILLSBOROUGH: Printed by/THOMAS DAVIS.' A rare series of notes and a rare and important low denomination from the series.
Fine. Heavy vertical fold, lower left long corner fold, bottom edge split, and handling. A solid note, but very dark on both sides with ground in soiling on the back. The note is centered upwards and the note is off the paper there. Top back edge hinge remnant and glue remnants from other hinges on the back. Penciled notation on the upper right back corner (from a Chapman sale?).

The One Shilling note on this Act was sold in our May, 2005 Ford X Sale in Atlanta. It was likely the finest known note of any denomination on the Act.
