North Carolina Currency. May 17, 1783 Act at Hillsborough. Twenty Shillings or One Pound. No.9280. Signed by Hunt and McCulloch. Printed on laid paper. 112mm by 74mm. Elaborate border cuts as used on the other denomination, 'COUNTERFEITERS BEWARE' on bottom cut. Vignette at top left of Justice with motto on banner 'DO AS YOU WOULD BE DONE BY'. The back design may be similar to the Crown and Book type. Possibly genuine, not an obvious fake as is the Ten Shillings note on this issue.
Fair. A large chunk out of the top center and rough edged. Backed to an index card (typewritten on back, ''1929 etc.''. A filler only, but a rare note. One of the worst looking Ford-Boyd Colonial notes, but it was the best available and as such, quite collectible.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
