State of North Carolina. May 10, 1780 Act. Twenty Five Dollars. Vim. Vi. repellamus. No.241. Signed by Caron and Coore. Printed on thick paper stock. Typeset face with ornamental borders. Simple pattern back, similar to 1778 notes, with imprint 'Printed by James Davis, 1780'. The sixth and final motto type used on the $25 notes of this Act. The print figure is listed exactly as 8,000 notes (or $200,000 of the issue).
Another note with incredible paper quality that is seen only in the great collections. The serial number on this note indicates it is from a short serial number run of high grade notes that likely were broken up 50, 75 or even over 100 years ago. An amazing opportunity to obtain top notch quality on this type and likely a condition census note.
Bright, vivid and well printed. About Uncirculated due to the two top corners being bent with the upper right tip shaved ever so slightly. The note is ''New'', as printed with the bent corners from collector mishandling long ago. Deeply embossed with immaculate paper surfaces. Tightly margined on three sides, only the bottom is wide. However, completely on the paper. Penciled ''1.50'' price on the back. Borderline stunning.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
The back design of this type aligns with the back used on the $10 ''Independence'' notes of the 1778 Act.
