North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. Two Dollars and an Half. Liberty Cap over Altar...North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. Two Dollars and an Half. Liberty Cap over Altar Vignette, motto LIBERTAS & NATALE SOLUM. No.2834. Signed by Haywood, Webb, Williams and Sumner. Printed on thick laid paper. Wider format note. Ornate floral detail at left over circle enclosing vignette. A bold, vivid and bright note with a wide sheet margin at the left.

About Very Fine. This is still very crisp, though quarter folded with a long corner crease and heavier handling. From the face, the look of a much higher grade. Several bottom edge splits as typical to this thicker paper type. Deeply embossed plate and well printed. There is a strip of excess ink at the right plate line on the right side of the margin. A top border line pinhole and faint juncture slit at the center seen under the light. Very sharp eye appeal.

Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
