North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. Half a Dollar. Cock Fight Vignette. No.10301....North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. Half a Dollar. Cock Fight Vignette. No.10301. Signed by Haywood and Webb. Printed on thicker laid paper. Ornate border at the top and denomination at the left. A fabulous vignette type and a type we have not catalogued before. Only the advanced collectors who have chased a complete set of these notes know which ones are the toughest to encounter. This might be one of them and it is a very choice example. Very crisp and sharp.

Very Fine or better. A hard crease down the center with a short split on the top and bottom. Both halves are crisp as new with only a partial diagonal fold and one long corner fold. From the face, looks nearly new. The vignette is sharp and clear, but there is caked on soiling over the oval enclosing our fighting friends. A pinhole in the lower left oval. The top margin is full width. Pencil code by T. James Clarke on the back.

Ex T. James Clarke Collection; Henry Chapman.
