North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. One Fourth of a Dollar. Bird Flying Vignette....North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. One Fourth of a Dollar. Bird Flying Vignette. No.8672. Signed by Sumner and Williams. Printed on slightly thicker laid paper, visible J. Whatman watermark ('HATM') at left end. Smaller format size. Face style different than $1/16 and $1/8 notes. Border cuts on three sides. Eight different vignettes used for the $1/4 notes with 12,500 notes printed from each type ($25,000 worth of notes or 2% of the issue). A very sharp note, crisp and bright, with outstanding paper quality for the series. Extremely Fine. This could claim a higher grade by the over zealous, but there is a quarter inch split at the top center and a corner fold at the upper right. Well margined with wide sheet selvege at the right and bottom. Two central pinholes. Light Raymond pencil code at the back upper right.

Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate; Wayte Raymond.

One signature is at the bottom right and the other is over the text denomination running across the top center.
