North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. One Eighth of a Dollar.  Sculpin Vignette. No.8356....North Carolina Currency. April 2, 1776 Halifax Issue. One Eighth of a Dollar. Sculpin Vignette. No.8356. Signed by Alston and Hill. Printed on laid paper. Small format size. Repeating pattern ornaments at left and small ornaments at right. An interesting vignette type which mimics a mythological beached whale with the tail up in the air. The upper left corner of the plate with wide margins at the left and top. Rounded corner plate line is very strongly inked. About Very Fine. Multifolds, some long corner creases and handling. Lightly toned and modestly soiled. Several short slits and a small chip off the upper left corner, not touching the border plate line. The vignette is exceptionally sharp.
