State of New York. March 27, 1781 Act. Eight Dollars. No.587. Signed by A.[ugustin] Lawrence and G. Livingston. Printed on sturdy wove paper, unwatermarked. Style as other denominations on Act. Typeset face (style like the June 15, 1780 Guaranteed Act notes) with border cuts and ornaments, 'State of New-York' at top. Interest statement lower left. Vignetted printed back with Justice standing with scales and sword, the blindfold in black. The back is at a ninety degree angle to the face. Imprint 'POUGHKEEPSIE:/Printed by John Holt, 1781.' at the right.
A third excessively rare and possibly unique note from this very important Act. This example is stamped at the right face 'Int. pd. one Year'. Another exceptional example, and essentially nearly as issued. There are three very light corner tip folds, so we will call this example Choice About Uncirculated. However, the technical grade or its possible future assignment of a ''numerical'' designation for its nearly print shop freshness is undermined by being overly conservative. This immaculate example is a miracle of survival. The back is bold and sharp. Wide to acceptable margins on both sides.
This note and the two previous examples are easily among the most important New York notes and likely one of the greatest landmark Colonial Currency rarities in the entire Ford-Boyd Collection. A final opportunity to obtain an epic rarity on New York Colonial Currency and all of Colonial American Currency.
