Colony of New York. March 5, 1776. Three Dollars. No.897. Signed by Abraham C. Lott and Jacob Abramse...Colony of New York. March 5, 1776. Three Dollars. No.897. Signed by Abraham C. Lott and Jacob Abramse [fading]. Printed on thick stock. Ornate border cuts, New York Arms at the right. Back with vignette of the tablets with the Ten Commandments, motto LEX REGIT ARMS TUENTUR. Imprint 'Printed by Samuel Loudon, in the Year M, DCC, LXXVI'. Based on the print runs, a much tougher note. Only 2,350 notes authorized and printed compared with 30,000 each for the notes $1 and less. A popular back vignette type. The look of a new note. Extremely Fine. Light vertical fold and light toning. Cut closely and bowed in slightly on the bottom. Partially closed pinhole in the left field. Boyd pencil code, ''myx'' [$1.00] at back top center.
