Colony of New York. September 2, 1775. Ten Dollars. No.4959. Signed by Jerem'h Brower and Rob: Livingston [in red]. Printed on thick stock. Ornate border cuts, New York Arms right. Printed back, vignette of Elephant, motto PAR VIRIBUS VIRTUS. Imprint 'Printed by John Holt, in the Year 1775'. Another very popular motif back on this series. Not a rare series with many notes known in the Fine, Very Fine and Extremely Fine grade ranges. However of the 5,000 printed, few crisp new notes or those nearly so were saved. Uncirculated notes from this issue are not seen often on today's market.
Crisp Uncirculated and nearly Choice. The lower left corner is lightly bent, to call this ''About Uncirculated'' is not logical. Wide margins, particularly the bottom (a petty nick at the left) and well printed. Three back corners with light toning from an old mounting. Light Raymond pencil code at the upper right.
