State of New Jersey. 1786. Six Shillings. No Plate Letter. No.20918[0?]. Signed by J. Ewing and B. Smith. Printed on thinner, rigid paper watermarked 'NEW JERSEY'. Standard face designs with New Jersey State Arms in red. The shield with three plowshares (a motif used on New Jersey coppers) supported by Plenty and Liberty. The texts in black and red. Standard leaf back, bees on back, in black printed by Isaac Collins. At the back left end '...Trenton, 1786...'. Another rare note with a significantly lesser print run of 17,500 notes with this unlettered plate position known. Superior to the DuPont note, but with a mounting.
Fine. The top back edge is strip mounted with paper to a gilt edged white card. Bright color, wide margined and moderately soiled. There are two glue splatters on the back top corners. Pencil priced '7.50' on the back of the card. Hardly the cost of breakfast at the diner these days!
