 State of New Jersey. December 20, 1783 Act. Thirty Shillings. No.1598. Signed by Ewing and Mott. Printed on thinner coarse stock than prior denominations. Size similar to 1781 issue. Standard designs, State seal on face. Leaf design on back and date '1784'. Trenton printed by Isaac Collins. The final note from this very rare series of notes that was withdrawn rapidly, with few surviving notes of any denomination. Another denomination note not represented in the important 1993 DuPont Sale of New Jersey Colonial notes and lottery tickets.
The six notes in this epic offering indicate that ''Extremely Fine'' notes are not an option on this issue date. The paper yielded rapid splitting and this note was printed on much thinner paper than the previous five note. Good to Very Good. Vertical crease with splitting, fold along bottom quarter with internal splitting and other folds. Aged and moderately soiled. Some roughness, mostly confined to wide extremities of the margins. It is mostly whole and fairly appealing. It is what it is and is virtually irreplaceable. Mere money won't replace this example or the other notes from this Act upon the fall of the hammer.
