State of New Jersey. January 9, 1781 Act. Three Shillings and Nine Pence. No.1894. Signed by P. Dickinson and R. Neil. Printed on rigid stock, watermarked 'NEW JERSEY'. Standard size and design style, State seal lower left. Nature leaf back pointed opposite to prior issues. Trenton printed by Isaac Collins. This unusual denomination (3 Pence added to 3 Shillings 6 Pence) is the equivalent to half of the highest note on the Act, the 7 Shillings 6 Pence (which equaled one dollar). Extremely Fine Plus. Bright, clean and vivid. Top edge horizontal handling fold and left side bending confined mostly to the wide left sheet margin. The other margins are complete, even and excellent for the series. Faint traces of mottled toning at the upper right of the face.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
