Colony of New Jersey. March 25, 1776. Six Pounds. No.1653. Signed by Jn. Johnston, Rob't Smith, and Jos. Smith. Printed on thinner, rigid paper watermarked 'NEW JERSEY'. Standard face designs with red New Jersey Arms and inside frame. An outer pattern in blue with blue texts. David Rittenhouse engraved the decorative border of this type and signed his work in fine letters. Standard leaf back in black. Burlington printed by Isaac Collins. Not a very rare type, but always in demand due to color, designs and the Rittenhouse tie.
A third example of this colorful issue type. Choice About Uncirculated. Upper left corner crease. Well margined on three sides, but the top is trimmed in slightly. The bottom margin has the depression seen from an old band and the nick is large into the wide margin. A sharp note with vivid colors.
