Colony of New Hampshire. June 28, 1776. Ten Pence. No.1249. Payable on January 26, 1787. Signed by Long. Printed on thick, coarse stock. 72mm by 57mm. Uniface, typeset with standard texts within ornamental borders with due date in the obligation. This denomination in the Ford X Sale, but with the 1788 due date (lot 5757). Another rarity with an unusual back notation. Penned on the verso is ''7/Counterfeit'' in contemporary cursive. What this means we do not know. Newman lists no counterfeits on the series. Extremely Fine. Light crease and toned. Back corners with green paper remnants (similar to several of the Delaware and Pennsylvania Franklin notes in Ford III and Ford VIII). An interesting rarity.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
The Ten Pence in Ford X (lot 4760) in Atlanta was a wonder note (''Gem Crisp Uncirculated''). That note was payable in 1788.
