Colony of New Hampshire. January 26, 1776. Six Dollars. No.2527. Portsmouth Issue Printed by Daniel Fowle. Payable on January 26, 1783. Signed by Smith and Moulton. Printed on thick, coarse stock. 75mm by 86mm. Standard face and back designs by Fowle with his imprint. A third denomination in this historic sale and fourth and final note on this rare series. The denomination and due date represented in Ford X in 2005. Impaired at the lower right corner, but this will fill a void in an important collection no doubt.
Very Fine in terms of paper quality. The lower margin is oddly cut in and burned severely. Toned overall with clean surfaces. Well margined and printed on both sides. There is also back foxing on the bottom center. It is what it is and it is a rarity. There may have been ten notes in the Ford-Boyd Collection from this Act (in two sales), but in the past twenty years we don't recall seeing even a half dozen other notes. The offering of notes of this issue from the Ford-Boyd Collection is essentially ''the supply'' of notes from this rare issue. When they are gone, it might be a generation before we see any offering that compares.
