Colony of the Massachusetts Bay. June 18, 1776. One Shilling. No.''4071''[in red]. Payable on June...Colony of the Massachusetts Bay. June 18, 1776. One Shilling. No.''4071''[in red]. Payable on June 18, 1779. Falsely signed in red. Printed on coarse paper. 71mm by 51mm. The Newman Plate Note, so illustrated on page 206 of the fourth edition. This note was a properly signed and issued note and is not a remainder as stated (i.e. ''RM'') in Newman. After the plate photo was shot, the note was later altered by being trimmed partially and given a red serial number and red signature. Both are diagnostics not seen on this change bill series to our knowledge. Very Fine or so. Two hard folds and two lighter ones seen from the back. Attractive from the face.

Ex Aflleck-Ball Collection (New Netherlands Coin Company, December 3-4, 1975, lot 260).
