Colony of the Massachusetts Bay. August 18, 1775. Seventeen Shillings. No.836. Payable on August 18,...Colony of the Massachusetts Bay. August 18, 1775. Seventeen Shillings. No.836. Payable on August 18, 1778. Signed by Plympton and Sayer? [very faint in blue]. Revere Sword in Hand Note. Printed on thick, coarse stock. 76mm by 100mm. Standard face and back designs. This denomination represented in the epic Ford X Sale offering in May, 2006, but with a variety nuance (see Ford Part X, lot 4654). A strong example and genuine. The back printing is exceptionally sharp and from an early plate state for the issue. Very Fine. The note is creased, but not broken. Quite broad with great margins. The soiling is light and there is some moderate dirt on the back. A penned line across the top back edge, a quarter inch from the top. One of the finest Swords in this second group of Revere printed notes from the Boyd collection.

Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
