State of Maryland. May 10, 1781 Act. Five Shillings. Unnumbered. Signed by N.[icholas] Harwood and J.[ohn] Callahan. Printed on laid paper. Typeset face with full red border cuts with ornate style. Back with State Arms in red, surrounded by ornate ornamental frame. Imprint 'Printed by F. Green'. Issue backed by confiscated Tory properties. A third type on this rare series. Far from incredible grade, but basically an intact note with strong color for the grade.
Good to Very Good or so. A long vertical split, some other edge flaws and splits that are paper strip repaired from the back. The bottom face shows some staining from the old repairs. A body void in the lower center. The verbal description is slightly harsh since the color is sharp for the technical grade. Affordable and available for this fleeting moment. This will fit well into any Maryland collection. The pedigree is top notch and so is the rarity.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
